The Interim Alternative Educational Setting (IAES) is designed to respond to those cases where students cannot effectively be served at the district level. This program provides an interim placement for the purpose of evaluation and assessment for students ages 5-22. Students referred to the IAES program may be close to exceeding 10 days of suspension in one school year and/or students who are not making progress in their current school setting and are recommended for assessment in an alternate setting. The assessment period offers the opportunity to clarify diagnostic concerns and provide a greater understanding of what academic services, behavioral and therapeutic interventions are needed in order for the student to successfully access and participate in the general curriculum.
